Network Open Hub Manager for an enterprise data communications major:

The company is one of the leading providers of networking products in the US. The company was the first to develop a 'smart hub' to integrate support into a single, managed enclosure i.e. Ethernet, FDDI, PCs, Macintoshs, minis, Token Rings, terminal service and mainframes.

Infinix consultants were commissioned to create and test basic objects that constitute the functionalities of the Open Hub Manager (OHM), the company's product.

Simple LAN wiring connections have evolved as integration points for a wide variety of networking devices, from terminal servers to routers. These provide users the opportunity to simplify network infrastructure and increase overall manageability.

The Hub is the wiring closet, the point of integration for active internets and LAN components. The company's Access/One Hub provides a wide range of connectivity and inter-networking ability between Ethernet, Token Ring and FDDI (Fiber Distributed Data Interface). OHM is a manager for such a Hub.

Open HUB Manager enables users to configure the Hub interactively using a graphical interface. The Open Hub Manager can be configured dynamically using an input schema file. The schema specifies the model of the network devices used making it versatile for different types of devices and networks.

The product was developed using C++ and an object oriented design paradigm. It involved development and testing of the user interface and various objects. The total size of the code was around 25,000 lines of C++.
